JSSC Preliminary Exam Syllabus 2014
Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) will conduct a Preliminary Written exam for recruitment for vacancies (including Backlog) of Junior Engineer (Civil & Mechanical). The standard of Competition level is raising with the time period as we are going onwards and time passing away rapidly. So candidate should knows that what should they have to prepare for their performance in examination. Candidates who are going to face this exam and are ignoramus about the scheme and syllabus. Exam Pattern : 
Candidates cleared the preliminary services will get the eligibility to appear for the exam and mains exam is included in two parts where paper 1 is common for all the hopefuls appearing the exam and paper 2 will be different for civil and mechanical candidates. Paper 1 is having 120 questions for 360 marks time duration of 2 hours and paper-2 will have 180 questions for 540 marks in the time limit of 3 hours.

Exam Pattern for Jr. Engineer (Civil & Mechanical) Preliminary written Exam is as Follows :-
► The written examination will be multiple choice/objective type.
► There will also be a negative marking of 01 mark for every wrong answer.

Exam Syllabus : Exam Syllabus for Jr. Engineer (Civil & Mechanical) Pre exam is given below:-
PAPER I
General Intelligence/Reasoning : It would include questions of both verbal and non-verbal type. The test will include questions on Semantic Analogy, Symbolic operations, Symbolic/Number Analogy, Trends, Figural Analogy, Space Orientation, Semantic Classification, Venn Diagrams, Symbolic/Number Classification, Drawing inferences, Figural Classification, Punched hole/pattern-folding & unfolding, Semantic Series, Figural Pattern –folding and completion, Number Series, Embedded figures, Figural Series, Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, Emotional Intelligence, Word Building, Social Intelligence, Coding and de-coding, Other sub-topics, if any Numerical operations.
Computer Knowledge : To test the proficiency of the candidate relating to matters like text formatting of the paragraphs, insertion of table, skill to print and save, file transfer, website searching, browsing and downloading, E-mail, use of pen drive, and other software etc. and programmes of accounting, etc. Computer Fundamentals, Windows (MS-Windows), MS-Office : Word Processing (MS-Word), Spread Sheet (MS-Excel), Presentation Knowledge (MS-Power Point), MS Access and Usage of Internet Services available on Internet, Communication Technology, Networking Concepts.
General Studies : In this objective of questions about general knowledge of surrounding society of the candidates to test the awareness about surrounding activities. Questions will also be  included towards a scientist sight and thinking which expected from an educated person. So, candidates should must focus on affairs about India and its adjacent countries too.
  • Current Affairs : Scientific Progress/Development, National/International Awards, Indian Languages, Books, Script, Capital, Currency, Sports-Athlete such as essential knowledge.
  • India & its Adjacent Countries : History of India & its Adjacent Countries, Culture, Geography, Economical Scenario and Constitution of India & State Administration, Political series of Country, Five-Year Plan.
PAPER II
General Hindi : In this paper 25 question will be from Hindi Passage and 75 question from Hindi grammar. Spot the Error, Fill in the Blanks, Synonyms/Homonyms, Antonyms, Spellings/Detecting Mis-spelt words, Idioms & Phrases, One word substitution, Improvement of Sentences, Active/Passive Voice of Verbs, Conversion into Direct/Indirect narration, Shuffling of Sentence parts, Shuffling of Sentences in a passage, Cloze Passage, Comprehension Passage.
