JEE Main Analysis and Expected Cut-off
JEE Main 2016 paper was similar in pattern to JEE Main 2015, but there were no Assertion-Reasoning or Match the column questions. There were 30 questions in each subject.
Each section of the paper was of 120 marks, which means a total of 360 marks.
Physics was relatively simpler than last year. There were 17 questions from class XII syllabus and 13 from class XI syllabus. Most of the questions were from topics generally covered for the JEE preparation.
Chemistry was relatively tougher than last year. There were 16 questions from class XII syllabus and 14 from class XI syllabus. The number of questions from organic chemistry were lesser than expected.
Mathematics was simpler than last year with some lengthy questions and mostly single concept questions. There were 15 questions from class XII syllabus and 15 from class XI syllabus.
The level of difficulty of the paper was as follows:
